Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of the metro rail project in Ahmedabad. Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and state Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel were also present on the occasion.
Gujarat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi takes a metro ride from Kalupur station to Doordarshan Kendra metro station after flagging off the Ahmedabad Metro Rail project.
During this journey he was accompanied by people from different walks of life, including people from railway families, women entrepreneurs and youth.

He said, “It is a big day for India of the 21st century, urban connectivity and a self-reliant India. I also experienced the fast travel of Gandhinagar-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express.”
More than two dozen metros have started or are in progress in cities one after the other in 8 years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said – “21st century India is going to get new momentum from the cities of the country. We need to constantly modernize our cities with the changing times and needs so that the transport system in the city is modern, there is seamless connectivity, It is necessary that one means of transport should cooperate with the other”.
